What is Unwelcome Adventure?
You're probably wondering what this game is about, besides the above. Well, its a game where your character gets thrown essentially into an adventure in another world. While there, you'll be making a lot of choices and meeting a lot of different people. Some are friendly, some aren't so friendly, and some are just after that ass. Your choices can, and often will, have consequences later on. To give a brief example from my design documents thus far, let's look at Gender Preference.
Gender Preference
Here you choose whether your character prefers men, women, hermaphrodites, cocks, or cunts. As an immediate result of this choice, any attempts to seduce a character of the chosen preference gains a bonus! Unfortunately, characters with that chosen preference gain bonuses against you. Given that this game features a lot of transformations in it, those choices break down into categories to determine whether they count as being prefered.
Men - Must have at least 1 cock. Must look like a man.
Women - Must have at least 1 vagina. Must look like a woman.
Hermaphrodite - Must have at least 1 cock. Must have at least 1 vagina.
Cocks - Must have at least 1 cock.
Cunts - Must have at least 1 vagina.
But, because I'm evil, that's not all. This affects even choices. To give a small preview, in the near beginning of the game, once you choose to leave the safety of your city (and be thrown into your Unwelcome Adventure), you shall be rescued at some point and ushered off to the relative safety of one of three kingdoms! How do I figure this out, you ask, well, we look at three characters, and compare them against your gender preference. The characters breakdown as follows:
Air Kingdom - Female rescuer
Water Kingdom - Hermaphrodite rescuer
Earth Kingdom - Male rescuer
There's plenty more choices you make that can change how things play out, encounters, or even available classes!
Where did you get the idea to make this?
I blame Fenoxo (www.fenoxo.com) for making the games that really hooked me in. When I started looking at other games beyond his, I found I kept wanting more from them. So I decided that hey, since I know how to program, and am a somewhat passable writer, I should make one too, if only to keep my programming skills sharp. Thus, Unwelcome Adventure was born.
What is the status of the game? When can I play it?
Right now, I'm still designing out the basic systems the game -has- to have for me to let others start poking around with it and playing it. Which means we're sitting in the lovely Pre-Alpha phase. Those basic systems are:
Character Creation - Design Done, Basic Programming Done, Receiving an overhaul
Regions, Areas, Rooms - Basic Design Done, Not Implemented
Dynamic Description - Basic Design Done, Not Implemented
Combat - Not Designed, Not Implemented
Dynamic Sex System - Basic Design Done, Not Implemented
Character - Gets split into the following subsystems
Inventory - Not Designed, Not Implemented
Equipment - Not Designed, Not Implemented
Attributes - Basic Design Done, Implemented
Skills - Basic Design Done, Implemented, Receiving Overhaul
Perks - Somewhat Designed, Not Implemented
As far as when you can play it... it'll be a while. I work 50 hours a week, so what little time I have is split between this and the rest of life. Rest assured though that once I get the basics done, the tutorial zone done, and the starter zones (three kingdoms, complete with cities, basic shops, and areas to kill things in) there will be a build to play.
What are you using to make the game?
For now, I'm making it using C#. Why not Flash or something browser (and Mac) friendly? Because I have access to Visual Studio Professional 2013 for free from the university I went to, but not to Adobe CC. :-/ Also, I'm far more familiar with C#, so I can work faster. Is it still a pain in the butt? Yeah. But it's the pain in the butt I know best. Trust me, outside of the lack of pictures and fancy looking menus, I can guarantee you'll have a nice, stable game. As long as you're playing on Windows at least.
That's all for now! Stay tuned for more, as I'll try to keep updating at least once a week. As I finish/finalize implementation, there will be screenshots and explanations. ;) Though, not everything that is in it will necessarily be explained here.
And yes, the site is pretty basic for now. I'm more focused on the game than a pretty website. I'll get to making the website pretty later.
